Yesterday was quite eventful. I just recently bought a new cheap camera. Something that I couldn’t really afford, but I got it anyway the price was right. I’ve always been intrigued by lomography cameras and their quality. Basically, I guess it’s the quality they shoot with. When taking a photograph with a lomo camera, your pictures basically comes out pretty rustic, or it looks like it came from a decade ago. The pictures look very retro when using a lomo camera, and it’s what I wanted. So I looked around, and talked about it for a bit and someone told me to not get one because they’re really expensive and just “toy” cameras. So no doubt they suggested to me to get a Minolta Hi-Matic AF2 camera. And, they’ve said it’s pretty well the same quality, but way better. So instead of paying $200-$300 for one, I bought this for $12!! Way cheaper than a lomo camera, and I can’t wait to get some film developed.

Right when I got home from Walmart after getting the camera and film, I looked at it, and decided to go out and do some shooting with it on my bike. So, I went around east Hamilton. Gage Park, and what not. Just to test it out. Now I think tomorrow I’ll get the pictures developed and see how this has really worked. I hope they turned out awesome. I can’t wait.

I bought the camera off Craigslist. It’s quality is quite awesome. There’s no bumps, or bangs on it. The lens is glass. No zoom, just a regular camera with a case and neck cord(strap).

So, I think tomorrow I’m going to get the film developed, and see how well they’ve turned out. I hope there’s no major light leaks and the film advanced correctly. And, I just hope the shutter, and light meter work okay. The flash seemed to tell me when to pop it out, and the focus told me when I was out of focus within the subject and background. So, I think I’m good on that front.

So, I think now this is really going to motivate me to go out and do some photography and enlighten myself. I can’t wait to go out and do some more and see how things turn out. Hopefully this gives me motivation to start using my D50 too, now. That camera is also quite amazing. I haven’t used the D50 a lot. Probably a good 10 times, or a little more. I don’t really concentrate on what to shoot with my digital camera because I know they can be deleted and what not. But, with this new Minolta it’s film, and I don’t want to waste cash on the film just to go wild on taking pictures. But concentrate on different subjects. It’ll make me a good photographer and hopefully will be able to make a little cash with it. I’d love that. I’ve always been into photography. Ever since high school when I took it all through it. Then, I stopped for a long time, and bought a camera. Now I have two good cameras I’m willing to use.

I guess that’s it for this post.
